I grew up in Idaho in a relatively healthy family. My grandparents started a health food company in the 70’s that became a multi-million dollar and international company. So, from a young age, I was taught the foundations of nutrition, the affects of adopting a poor diet, and the importance of taking care of your body. Even with that background, I rebelled and ate horribly as a teenager. When I was able to drive, I would stop by gas stations on my way home from work and buy skittles, apple pies, donuts and anything that tasted good. Just having the knowledge wasn’t and –-for most people—isn’t enough to create lasting change. Adopting habits others told me were important and living to please them didn’t create intrinsic values I believed in and was willing to live by. Now, today, after being in the fitness industry and spending time learning about health, how our bodies work, the emotional and psychological elements of nutrition and food, my own values and habits have been transformed, and so has the way I coach my clients.
Most people I work with want to lose body fat and gain muscle mass or definition and find it difficult to change their habits in order to accomplish this. It’s a common struggle. There is a balance that comes into play when we consider our desired body image, our lifestyle, the culture we live in, our social tendencies, and health. I love working with people who have tried “diets” or “fat loss” techniques and been disappointed with the long term results.

Growing up in the South has challenges in and of itself—fried foods, dense casseroles (with who knows what in them!!), & stagnant lifestyles. Thankfully, being involved in basketball and tennis helped keep me “in shape”. Around my junior year in high school is when I started to eat according to what made me feel good. I realized the importance of using food as fuel. My senior year of high school, I started working at a local ladies gym and began teaching group classes, personal training, and coaching people towards weight loss. It had become a passion and has remained ever since! For over 20 years now, I have been in the field of health & fitness and have loved every moment.
In 2012, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and Adrenal Fatigue. Using the right foods, exercise, and natural medication, I was able to get my levels back to normal. Food is medicine, and exercise does wonders!

I’ve worked in health and fitness since 2005 and have always had a love for nutrition. The last few years I have been very focused on developing my knowledge and expertise in the area of nutrition coaching. I enjoy working with people who are wanting to learn how to be healthy for life and are ready to do the work to make changes happen.
Nutrition has interested me since I was a teenager. I struggled with wanting to lose weight and look thin, but I had very little knowledge about nutrition. There were certain foods I thought were healthy and from there assumed the less I could eat the better. I was left often feeling starved, then stuffed, then guilty and repeating that same cycle. It’s been a progression of years of learning and changing my thought process. The last few years have been the most freeing in the way I’ve learned to view myself and food. I’ve learned to understand the importance of health from the inside and giving your body what it needs to be full of strength and energy.
I want everyone to eat from the perspective of valuing themselves and living a long, fulfilling life!
Through my health and fitness experiences, I’ve worked through difficulties such as disordered eating, overtraining, and injuries. And, I’ve learned wonderful things like performance and mentality training, igniting discipline, and that nutrition is a form of self-respect--not punishment or guilt.
Early in my athletic career I spent a long time feeling “stuck”, like I’d tried everything to achieve weight loss goals and believed for a long time that deprivation and restriction were the only ways to achieve results. This led me to seek out the best ways to create the change I wanted so badly. I learned that health is an all-encompassing endeavor and achieving goals was more than just avoiding certain foods. And as such, I believe that sleep, nutrition, hydration, fitness and recovery are the 5 vital elements of health, and I empower my clients to achieve their goals by embracing them.
Empowering and inspiring clients is a privilege I take very seriously, but I encourage balance and want people to have as much fun achieving goals as possible. I feel strongly that the long game is the only game when it comes to health and believe gradual, sustainable changes will provide lasting results.
