Getting Started

We offer four things: Personal Training, Remote Personal Training, Online Programming, and Nutrition Coaching. Within the realm of Personal Training, you can choose from Private Personal Training or Semi-Private Personal Training. Most of our clients choose Semi-Private because of its affordability and personal attention (even if the trainer is training someone else alongside you). Private Personal Training is recommended for anyone with significant balance issues, major limitations, etc.

Functional movement training refers to exercise that helps you move better within your daily life. For instance, we help you learn to squat, pick something off the ground (deadlift), push your body off the ground or away from something (pushup), and pull yourself up or pull something towards you (pullup or row). These are all essential for preventing injuries and living your best life!

No, you do not need to be in shape to get started. We welcome all levels and start you at a safe intensity and pace that is easy to build upon. Our trainers have experience training clients of all fitness levels.

We offer an optional free consultation at the beginning. This is a time for you to come and meet with us to explore our facility and options for training. We give you a tour and answer any questions you may have. The next step is your initial movement assessment - this is where you first sit down with your personal trainer to go over your medical history and goals. Then, we walk you through our easy but thorough assessment where we learn about your mobility, stability, and limitations. From this assessment, we develop your program. Your next appointment with us will be your first personal training session. During your first session, we are still learning many things about you, and it's your time to learn many things as well - proper warm up, corrective exercises, how to use your core, and how to use your body safely, efficiently, and effectively while strength training the whole body. Every client's workout looks different because everyone's goals, strengths, and weaknesses are different.

We can help you determine this during a free consultation. We can talk through realistic scenarios to come up with the best plan. We also know that not every person is able to make it work due to finances, travel, or time, but we do have many options available for many stages of life.

This differs greatly because results depend upon so many different factors - hormones, metabolism, diet, activity level, sleep routine, etc. Commonly, we hear from clients that they notice greater strength, stability, and/or mobility around the 3-month mark if not sooner.

Progress tracking varies depending upon what data the client wants. We have a body composition machine that can track body fat percentage, muscle mass, hydration, and more. This is an easy way to track progress objectively, and it's completely optional. Another way to track progress is through their workout - progression of reps, sets, and/or weight and/or improvement in mobility. Clients also notice progress through simple ways such as finding it easier to hike, ski, golf, or even push a vacuum!

We always say "If Cheers was a personal training studio, Body Basics would be it!" It's a place where everybody knows your name. Not only that, you are greeted and welcomed upon arrival and taken care of throughout the whole workout. We are not an open gym - we are a private studio, so it has a very quaint, clean, personable feel.

Customization & Programming

We write a totally new program around the 6-week mark, but throughout the 6 weeks your program should be changing slightly - including modifications and/or progressions. Six weeks gives your body enough time to adapt, learn, and progress through certain compound movements and corrective exercises.

Yes, absolutely. Our initial movement assessment helps us determine your range of motion so that we keep you exercising in a safe, effective way. If you have an injury, we often collaborate with your physical therapist. We can modify for most health conditions as well. Before we put you through any exercise, we like to make sure that we have all the information we need related to your health condition. We also may request approval from your physician.

Definitely. As we personally train you, you are gaining much knowledge on how to perform many different exercises and how to execute proper form.

We have helped clients with unique goals such as being able to run a marathon, standing up from the floor easily, or improving cardiovascular health. We also help clients with common goals such as strength, weight loss, confidence, mobility and flexibility, stamina, and pain reduction.

It depends on your availability. Once we match your availability with our schedule, we let you know which trainers you have to choose from. If you have a flexible schedule, we can try to pair you with your trainer of choice. It's not always a guarantee, but we do try! Thankfully, our team of trainers is one of our strongest suits - we hire such great people and are confident in them all!
